Because of its unique ankle joint, Dream Brace allows patients with the following ailments to move fluidly on flat and sloped terrain:

Joint

The Dream Joint is a revolutionary ankle joint component providing dorsiflexion control and assistance while affording the user a wider angle of plantarflexion and overall range of movement. This innovative mechanism was created by using a frictional bearing one way clutch. The Joint and orthosis will restore a natural balanced movement to your stride.This innovative mechanism was created by using a frictional bearing one-way clutch. The metal used is Stainless Steel, SUS304 grade, to adequately hold body weight when used for custom AFO applications. The Dream Joint is also applicable for knee orthoses.

Overview

We supply two models of the “Dream Joint”; Type A with a Plantarflexion stop containing three positions of plantarflexion, and Type B which is a free Plantarflexion option. The dorsiflexion Range is 100 degrees for both A and B types. The Dream Joint further comes in three fixed resistance strengths; Torque #3, #2.and #1. A “Custom-Jig” is offered separately for custom brace applications to keep the componentry aligned during fabrication.

The joint kit package contains; One pair of Joint Cores / Four Holding Arms / 12 mounting Screw Weight per kit: approx. 430g

Strength of Resistance

Torque measured at 15cm from the center of the core: Grade Torque at 30,000 to 300,000 cycles per one core:

• # 1 0.9 to 1.5 Nm
• # 2 1.6. to 1.8 Nm (built in stock Pre-fab AFO Dream Brace Sizes M and S)
• # 3 2.0 to 3.2 Nm (built in stock Pre-fab AFO Dream Brace sizes L and LL)
• # 4 Under development

Custom Fabrication

The Dream Joint kit is able to be fabricated into polymer AFOs, graphite AFOs, and Ankle sections of custom KAFOs. A reusable alignment jig is offered for purchase to guarantee proper alignment during fabrication. The Dream Joint kit may also be used in the fabrication of upper extremity applications.
