Orthotic Cranioplasty

Infinite Technologies is proud to bring Orthotic "helmet" molding to the pediatric patients of the east coast through its subsidiary practice Eastern Cranial Affiliates.

Advantages of Orthotic Cranioplasty

  • Reduced Cranial and Facial Asymmetry
  • Reduction of Ear Asymmetry
  • Improved Self Image Later in Life
  • Reduced Need of Surgical Intervention
  • Reduced Risk of jaw related disorders

Who Is a Candidate?

  • Children Between 3 and 18 months old
  • Enlargement of One/More Cranial Quadrants
  • Visually Apparent Facial Asymmetry
  • Children with shortened Cranial Length
  • Children with neck muscle asymmetry

Early Detection = Greater Success

  • Growth Rate Determines Correction.
  • Ideal Age to Begin is 3-6 months.
  • Younger Children Experience the Greatest Success and Quickest Rate of Correction.
  • Correction loses efficiency as the child ages.
  • Treatment Time increases dramatically after 10 months.

What About Repositioning (Won't it Correct on Its Own)?

Many people feel that an asymmetrical head will correct on its own, no matter the age of the child. While in many children below six (6) months of age we see some seft-correction (20%-25%), primarily as hair grows, we forget about it.

Studies show that self-correction occurs:

  • Approximately 10% of children older than 5 and 1/2 months.
  • Approximately 3% of children older than 6 months

Once a child begins to roll over, they do not experience consistent enough counterforce on their head to cause plagiocephaly to correct it.
