Leg Prosthetics Lower Extremity

Leg Prosthetics

LEG area includes:   above the knee  |  below the knee  |  foot
*Also called “lower extremities” or “lower limb”

Losing your limb does not mean you have to change your lifestyle. If you are faced with the possibility of losing, we invite you to meet with us and gather the pertinent information regarding your options. Many factors can help patients decide on a particular prosthetic facility to have their prosthesis made: doctor, friend referral, location, use of advanced technologies, insurance coverage, etc. All of these are important factors but still won’t directly address the most important issues – the fit, function, and comfort of your prosthetic limb. Our commitment is to be a resource for you throughout this process following your amputation.

Lower Extremity Prosthetics

Based on your doctors’ preference, the certified staff at Infinite Technologies can fit you immediately with an Immediate Post-Operative Prosthesis (IPOP). Infinite Technologies is a major proponent of the IPOP. Worn immediately after limb amputation surgery, the IPOP helps to protect patients’ surgical wounds, promotes healing, controls swelling/edema and allows patients to become accustomed to wearing a device. The IPOP has been proven to reduce the patient’s time to mobility following amputation, promoting the patient’s candidacy for a prosthesis. During this time, our prosthetists and lab technicians will begin to design a more definitive prosthesis to accommodate your lifestyle and goals.

While all prosthetists have access to the same resources, the results can vary. The functional capabilities of even state-of –the –art technology can be severely compromised without a properly fitting socket. At Infinite Technologies, we specialize in the fit and fabrication of vacuum-assist suction systems for lower extremity amputations of all levels. We have a reputation for successfully fitting amputees who previously have been unable to achieve a proper fit.

Our customized fitting process employs a casting or CAD/CAM process with specialized fitting techniques that are unique in the prosthetics industry. The prosthesis will feel like it is a part of you rather than an attachment. The combination of this system with advanced lower limb technology allows us to provide a prosthesis that is highly functional, comfortable and tailored to each patient’s needs. This combines a special balance of their abilities, needs, goals, and overall health into each design.

In order to achieve all of your goals and functional capabilities, you will need the correct guidance and gait training to utilize your prosthesis. Proper gait training, by instructing you on correct gait mechanics, posture, and timing is our specialty. During this time, our patients are encouraged to meet and socialize with one another for a better understanding of each other’s experiences. Our friendly atmosphere fosters this approach and continues our high customer service and satisfaction.
