Pediatric Orthotics

Orthotics is the branch of medicine that deals with the use of supports, braces, and other devices to correct or supplement an orthopedic deficiency. Another way to think of it is that an orthotic device is usually a support, brace, or splint used to support, align, prevent, or correct the function of movable parts of the body.

Orthoses can be used to help with recovery after injury, correction of malformed anatomical structures (including plagiocephaly; the misshapen skull with which children are sometimes born), and other physical conditions related to joints and movement.

PEDIATRIC ORTHOTICS: OUR APPROACH

The practitioners and professionals at Infinite Technologies know that treating children is not the same as treating adults.  Infinite Technologies has been helping families with their orthotic and prosthetic needs for nearly 15 years and we will be your partner to help you through the process.  Many of our practitioners have developed close relationships with other pediatric specialists in the area, including physicians and therapists.  We work closely with these physicians, private therapy practices, county programs and public school systems to ensure our kiddos are getting the best possible treatment.  Every patient is independently evaluated and a unique treatment plan is developed.  All of our evaluations are free of charge with no commitment necessary.  We accept all insurances and review any of out of pocket costs with families before proceeding with any services.

ORTHOTICS FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the most common questions people ask us about orthotics, but please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. We look forward to talking with you!

  • Patients require braces for many reasons; to promote healing, functionally assist a weak limb, control pain, or facilitate rehabilitation.  In most cases, bracing is determined by a team of specialists; your therapist and physician determine the need for bracing, and the Orthotist will determine the scope and design of that brace.  It is important to understand that your Orthotist does not issue the prescription for a brace.  Your physician holds all final decisions for the need and ultimate design of your brace.
